PROJECTS

 

v     Collecting food labels for DAR schools

v     Observing Constitution Day and publicizing the event in local media

v     Visiting veterans of the armed forces in a local nursing home and sending them birthday cards each month

v     Helping with the Naturalization ceremony and reception each year at Federal Building

v     Conducting American History Essay Contests in the schools and hearing the students read their winning essays

v     Co-sponsoring West Virginia Humanities Council History Alive! programs

v     Visiting elderly members in assisted living facilities

v     Participating in the Grand Feature Parade of the Mountain State Forest Festival, weather permitting

v     Recognizing members who work with Literacy Volunteers and do other public service work in the community

v     Planning programs that emphasize DAR goals and causes

v     Celebrating in 2007 the hundredth year of the chapter’s founding

v     Conducting genealogical workshops at the Allegheny Regional Family History Research Library outside Elkins
