P & H Railroad taken near Harrisville
There were railroads in Ritchie County until 1988, which was a period of 131 years. These three railroads figured into the prosperity of farms and industry, and was a vital force in our economy. The Harrisville Southern went from Harrisville to Cornwallis, the Lorama ( also known as P H & P ) ran from Pennsboro, Harrisville and Pullman, the C & K operated from Cairo to Macfarlan.  They all played an important part in the growth of our county.  The B & O Railroad operating  from Clarksburg to Parkersburg, went thru Ritchie County, with stops in Pennsboro and Ellenboro.
