RITCHIE COUNTY OLD STONE HOUSE MUSEUM, Pennsboro, West Virginia
The Old Stone House is considered to be Ritchie County's most historical and oldest landmark, being the first house to be built in the county.  It was completed and furnished in April of 1815.  It was the only stagecoach stop between Clarksburg, WV and Marietta, OH, known as Martin's Inn along the Northwestern Turnpike. After many fund raisers and donations the house was purchased by the Ritchie County Historical Society, on June 20, 1977.  There are many items on exhibit that are relative to early life in Ritchie County. The Old Stone House Museum was placed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1978.
